Please be aware that there are different kinds of these axle shaft seals available - please check our product information "IDS-VW/Audi-0B4-Axle Oil Seals" - check carefully which one one you need - we do not know if they are interchangeable. This is also the reason why we did not put the axle shaft seals into our 0AW overhaul kit.

1x 0AW 409 399 - our ref. O-OSL-0AWLA - for the long axle shaft, located in the front housing
In the files of the manufacturer it shows that 2 of 0AW 409 400 are needed per transmission. When we dismantled the gearboxes for our studies, we could always find one piece only in the round cover of the axle drive at the short axle. The only other axle shaft oils seal was the smaller seal in the housing for the long axle shaft.
